Location: Fresno, CA
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 PM - ~5:30/6:00 AM (Rotating weekend coverage)
A leader in the food manufacturing industry is seeking an Assistant Quality Manager to join their night shift team in Fresno, CA. This is a pivotal leadership role within the Quality Assurance department, ideal for a hands-on professional with a strong background in food safety and lab quality.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and support the night shift QA team, ensuring adherence to food safety and quality standards.
- Act as the primary QA contact during the night shift, escalating major issues to the QA Manager.
- Train and coach QA staff, aligning with development plans and maintaining training documentation.
- Ensure compliance with GMPs, HACCP, SQF, and customer/regulatory requirements.
- Investigate quality deviations, customer complaints, and support continuous improvement efforts.
- Maintain and calibrate lab equipment; manage documentation and quality control plans.
- Collaborate with R&D during trials and commercialization runs.
- Assist with final product disposition decisions (release, rework, scrap).
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Food Science or a related field.
- Certifications (preferred): HACCP, SQF Practitioner, Lean Six Sigma.
- Experience: 3+ years in food manufacturing QA/QC; 2-4 years in QA team leadership.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong grasp of food safety systems (GMPs, HACCP, SQF), risk assessments, allergen controls, document control, and quality systems.
