Automation and Controls Engineer
Responsibilities
- Program PLC-based systems across multiple platforms.
- Advanced programming experience with AB/Rockwell software (Compact/Control Logix PLCs using Studio Designer 5000/RSLogix 500), Beckhoff controls (TwinCAT 2 & 3), and familiarity with Siemens, C++, C#, Python, Visual Studio, and SQL database programming.
- Design industrial HMI/OIT panels with PanelView Plus using FactoryTalk View Studio (SE and ME), Windows CE, basic networking, and experience with Wonderware, InduSoft, and third-party HMI programs.
- Integrate various hardware devices and I/O systems (sensors, actuators, pneumatics, servos/motion controls, robotics, lasers, printers, scanners, etc.).
- Proficient in designing electrical control systems using AutoCAD/SolidWorks Electric, pneumatic diagrams, enclosure/panel layouts, power, logic, and safety circuits.
- Provide startup support, system commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Assist with technical writing of scope of work, operating, and user guides.
- Field wire, panel wire, and conduit to meet UL/NEC standards.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Automation Controls/Electronics Engineering or 5+ years of experience in an automation industrial environment, or a 2-year technical degree with 10 years of experience.
- PLC programming experience in structured text and ladder logic, with expertise in designing software controls for various industrial automated systems.
- Experience in interfacing, communicating, controlling, and troubleshooting automated machinery.
- Knowledge of AC/DC systems, VFDs, and motors.
- Strong interpersonal skills, confidence, and ability to work effectively as a team player with co-workers and management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
