We are expanding our commercial footprint in Houston and seeking a skilled and driven Business Development Manager to join our team. This individual will focus on cultivating new business opportunities while strengthening relationships with existing clients across air, ocean, and general cargo sectors.
Position Overview
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying, developing, and closing new commercial opportunities in the Gulf region. Ideal candidates will bring proven experience in both air freight and ocean freight, strong knowledge of general cargo operations, and a strong network within the Houston logistics market.
Experience transporting metals or commodities is a significant plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to drive new business growth across air, ocean, and general cargo services.
- Identify and pursue new customer accounts within the Greater Houston area and surrounding regions.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring satisfaction and long-term engagement.
- Collaborate with operations, pricing, and management teams to create tailored logistics solutions.
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify commercial opportunities.
- Prepare and deliver customer proposals, presentations, and bids.
- Meet and exceed revenue targets and performance KPIs.
- Attend industry events, conferences, and networking activities to represent Access World.
- Maintain accurate sales activity reporting within CRM systems.
Required Qualifications
- Must be local to Houston, TX (or already living within reasonable commuting distance).
- 3-7+ years of commercial or business development experience in the freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain industry.
- Proven track record in air freight and ocean freight sales.
- Strong understanding of general cargo handling, transportation, and logistics solutions.
- Existing network of customers, carriers, brokers, or shippers in the Houston market.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple deals simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience handling, storing, or transporting metals or commodities (aluminum, copper, steel, etc.).
- Knowledge of warehousing solutions, value added services, or specialized cargo operations.
- Familiarity with Access World's service offerings or similar logistics providers.
