Job Summary
The Director of Engineering and Facilities oversees all engineering and facilities operations within the diagnostic medical equipment manufacturer. This role requires a visionary leader to drive innovation, ensure regulatory compliance, and optimize operational efficiency. Responsibilities include managing complex projects, developing a multidisciplinary team, and shaping the future of engineering and facilities management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic vision for engineering and facilities operations.
- Foster innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee construction, remodeling, and maintenance projects.
- Coordinate work order requests to maintain efficiency.
- Implement preventive maintenance programs for facility systems.
- Supervise maintenance and calibration of equipment.
- Conduct routine facility inspections and address issues.
- Manage contractors and vendors for projects and services.
- Oversee installation of new equipment.
- Maintain offsite storage facilities.
- Lead sustainable practices, including energy efficiency and waste reduction.
- Manage multidisciplinary teams in various engineering fields.
- Oversee validation of manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Collaborate on NPI projects and integrate engineering solutions.
- Drive innovation in process improvements and technology advancements.
- Manage scale-up of new processes and technologies.
- Utilize data analytics to monitor and improve processes.
- Collaborate with quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and production teams.
- Assess and mitigate risks in projects and technology implementations.
- Build and retain high-performing teams.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts to enhance product quality and reduce costs.
- Ensure compliance with regulations (FDA, ISO, EHS) and industry standards.
- Promote a proactive safety culture.
- Oversee development and maintenance of specifications, procedures, and protocols.
- Lead audit processes and ensure accurate documentation.
- Develop and manage budgets for operations.
- Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures.
- Provide strategic recommendations to senior management.
- Collaborate with manufacturing support functions for cohesive performance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or related field required.
- Master's Degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in engineering and facilities management, with leadership roles in a regulated environment.
- 6+ years of experience managing multidisciplinary teams and large-scale projects.
Training and Skills
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices.
- Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Travel Requirements
- 10% Domestic and International
