Director of Logistics
A leading U.S. manufacturing organization is seeking a Director of Logistics to lead transportation and logistics operations across a multi-site network. This leadership role will be responsible for developing and executing logistics strategy, optimizing transportation spend, managing carrier relationships, improving service performance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead enterprise-wide logistics and transportation strategy.
- Manage and develop a high-performing logistics team.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with trucking and rail carriers.
- Drive freight cost reduction and operational efficiency initiatives.
- Reduce claims, damages, and service disruptions through process improvements.
- Develop and monitor KPIs, reporting, and logistics performance metrics.
- Lead carrier sourcing, contract negotiations, and agreement management.
- Partner with Operations, Procurement, Finance, and Legal to support business objectives.
- Evaluate market trends, carrier capacity, and emerging logistics technologies.
- Promote safety, compliance, and best practices across the logistics function.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field.
- 4+ years of logistics management experience.
- Experience managing truck and rail transportation.
- Strong carrier management and contract negotiation experience.
- Proven leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of transportation operations, freight claims, and Incoterms.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
