Quality Engineer

We are seeking a Quality Engineer to join a leading manufacturing organization in the Greater Indianapolis area. This role is responsible for driving quality excellence across manufacturing operations through the development and maintenance of quality systems, process controls, continuous improvement initiatives, and root cause problem-solving efforts. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality control processes, procedures, and systems to ensure compliance with quality standards and operational requirements
- Lead root cause investigations, corrective actions, and preventive actions (CAPA) to resolve quality issues and drive sustainable improvements
- Monitor manufacturing process performance through SPC, process capability analysis (Cp/Cpk), and statistical methods to identify trends and reduce variability
- Support and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001 and other applicable quality standards
- Conduct internal audits, process audits, and supplier audits to ensure compliance with quality requirements and continuous adherence to established procedures
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, FMEA, 8D, DOE, and other problem-solving methodologies
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to improve product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and overall process capability
- Develop and maintain quality documentation including control plans, inspection plans, process flow documentation, work instructions, and quality procedures
- Analyze quality metrics and key performance indicators to identify opportunities for improvement and support data-driven decision making
- Champion a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and operational excellence while ensuring compliance with all company policies and environmental, health, and safety standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Statistics, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field required
- 7+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Quality, Plant Quality, Continuous Improvement, or related manufacturing environments
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, Quality Management Systems (QMS), auditing practices, and quality documentation requirements
- Experience leading root cause analysis efforts utilizing methodologies such as 8D, Fishbone, 5 Whys, CAPA, PFMEA, and FMEA
- Hands-on experience with SPC, DOE, process capability studies, statistical analysis, and data-driven process improvement initiatives
- Demonstrated success implementing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to improve quality, productivity, and operational performance
- Experience collaborating with manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, and quality teams in a plant environment
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Six Sigma Green Belt, or Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, project management, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization
