About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Director of Sales to lead our freight forwarding sales organization. This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving revenue growth, building strategic partnerships, and managing a high-performing sales team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of global logistics, supply chain solutions, and the competitive landscape of freight forwarding services.

As the Director of Sales, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our commercial strategy, expanding market share, and ensuring customer satisfaction through innovative solutions. This position requires a dynamic leader with exceptional communication skills, strong business acumen, and a proven track record of success in international and domestic freight forwarding sales.


Key Responsibilities

Sales Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy aligned with company objectives and market trends.
  • Set clear revenue targets and performance metrics for the sales team.
  • Monitor and analyze market conditions, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify growth opportunities.
  • Drive strategic initiatives to expand our presence in key trade lanes and emerging markets.

Team Management & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of sales managers and business development professionals.
  • Establish a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide training and coaching to enhance team performance and ensure alignment with company goals.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and implement development plans for high-potential employees.

Client Acquisition & Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, including multinational corporations and regional clients.
  • Negotiate high-value contracts and service agreements to maximize profitability.
  • Ensure exceptional customer experience through proactive communication and problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with operations and pricing teams to deliver competitive and tailored solutions.

Revenue Growth & Market Expansion

  • Identify new business opportunities in air, ocean, and ground freight services.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with carriers, agents, and industry stakeholders.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to optimize pricing strategies and improve margins.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking forums to enhance brand visibility.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • Minimum 8-10 years of progressive sales leadership experience in freight forwarding or logistics.
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding revenue targets in a competitive market.
  • Strong understanding of international trade regulations, Incoterms, and customs compliance.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: Competitive $150,000 - $180,000, commensurate with experience.
