About the Opportunity

We're partnering with a mid-sized, highly engineered manufacturing company that supports defense and government customers. This organization produces precision components and specialized devices used in mission-critical systems, with a strong focus on quality, compliance, and reliability.

They are experiencing growth and operational transformation and are looking to bring in a Director of Materials Management to lead supply chain, procurement, and inventory functions while helping modernize systems and processes.


Position Overview

This role will be responsible for end-to-end materials management, including procurement, planning, inventory control, and supplier strategy. You will play a key role in optimizing supply chain operations, improving visibility and traceability, and supporting compliance requirements tied to government contracts.

This is a hands-on leadership role in a manufacturing environment, with responsibility for both team leadership and process improvement.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead procurement, materials planning, and inventory management across the operation
  • Develop and execute supplier sourcing and qualification strategies
  • Ensure compliance with government contracting requirements (FAR/DFARS) and export controls (ITAR)
  • Drive improvements in MRP/ERP systems, data integrity, and reporting
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and quality teams
  • Improve on-time delivery, inventory optimization, and cost performance
  • Build and develop a high-performing team across materials and supply chain functions
  • Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships in a regulated environment

Qualifications

  • 8-15+ years of experience in materials management, supply chain, or procurement
  • Experience in manufacturing environments (aerospace, defense, or other regulated industries strongly preferred)
  • Familiarity with FAR, DFARS, ITAR, and/or compliance-driven environments
  • Experience leading or optimizing ERP/MRP systems
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams (buyers, planners, materials)
  • Strong understanding of inventory control, demand planning, and supplier management

Compensation

  • Base salary: $120,000 - $150,000
  • Additional performance incentives and benefits included
