Electrical Reliability Engineer

Position Overview

The Electrical Reliability Engineer is responsible for delivering technical support and driving reliability improvements within the plant's power distribution systems. This role works cross‑functionally with engineering, maintenance, production, and external partners to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations.


Key Responsibilities

Operational & Technical Support

  • Provide technical expertise for power distribution systems, motor controls, and electrical equipment.
  • Maintain and update electrical documentation, including P&IDs, single-line diagrams, and schematics.
  • Support equipment troubleshooting and assist in developing effective asset reliability strategies.
  • Conduct root-cause analyses on electrical failures and recommend corrective actions.

Maintenance & Reliability Improvements

  • Collaborate with plant personnel to meet maintenance and project objectives.
  • Participate in planning and execution of plant outages, shutdowns, turnarounds, and new installations.
  • Evaluate existing equipment and recommend upgrades or new components to enhance reliability and meet production needs.
  • Contribute to the development of policies, standards, preventive maintenance plans, and operating procedures in alignment with industry codes.

Project & Continuous Improvement Work

  • Serve as project manager or technical lead for electrical distribution, controls, and capital projects.
  • Support project teams with design and implementation of electrical and control systems.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, Lean manufacturing, and operational excellence initiatives.

As the Electrical Reliability Engineer, you should have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology (Electrical Engineering preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience working with electrical systems and power distribution.
  • Experience with PLCs, HMIs, and control platforms (e.g., Honeywell, Allen‑Bradley).
  • Working knowledge of NEC and NFPA electrical codes.
  • Proficiency with SAP and AutoCAD.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (chemical, refining, or similar), ideally with familiarity with ISO9001 or RC14001 systems.
