About the Opportunity
On behalf of our client - a leading German pharmaceutical company with a global footprint - we are seeking a Global Category Director to lead strategic procurement for Industrial Capex, MRO, and Technical Services. This role is based in Barcelona, where the company is establishing a new global operations hub as part of its international expansion.
This is a high-impact leadership position, ideal for a senior procurement professional with deep experience in capital projects and technical sourcing within regulated manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and implement global category strategies for Capex, MRO, and Technical Services across multiple manufacturing sites.
- Lead complex sourcing initiatives, supplier negotiations, and long-term strategic partnerships.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Finance to align procurement with capital investment and maintenance programs.
- Drive innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation within the category.
- Manage a global team and ensure alignment with corporate procurement governance and compliance standards.
- Monitor market trends, supplier performance, and risk exposure to inform sourcing decisions.
Candidate Profile
- 10+ years of experience in strategic procurement or category management, ideally within pharmaceutical, chemical, or industrial manufacturing sectors.
- Proven success managing Capex procurement and technical service contracts at a global level.
- Strong commercial acumen, stakeholder engagement, and supplier management skills.
- Experience working in matrixed, multicultural environments.
- Fluent in English; German and/or Spanish highly desirable.
- Degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or related discipline.
