Lead Electrical Engineer

DSJ Global is partnered with a leading Semiconductor Test & Measurement firm who is seeking an accomplished Electrical Engineer to join their US Research & Venture Team. This team drives the integration of advanced electrical, mechanical, thermal, software, and AI/ML technologies into next‑generation automated test systems used across the semiconductor value chain.

As the SI/PI Engineering Lead, you will design, analyze, and integrate high‑speed electrical, optical, and thermal subsystems for state‑of‑the‑art semiconductor test platforms. You will own feasibility studies, prototype development, and hands‑on validation of complex designs spanning semiconductors, photonics, embedded systems, and high‑performance computing devices operating at 64 Gb/s and beyond. This role offers significant technical leadership opportunities, including independent design projects, cross‑functional collaboration, and mentorship of junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead SI and PI (PDN, DC/AC) design for PCBs, load boards, sockets, and system‑level channels.
  • Perform full‑channel SI/PI analysis across packages, sockets, interposers, PCBs, and cabling.
  • Conduct prototype evaluation, qualification, and hands‑on testing.
  • Create test specifications, evaluation protocols, and engineering change requests.
  • Present design findings to senior leadership and customers.
  • Work with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to define specifications and select suppliers.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to process and methodology improvements.
  • Support IP generation through patent applications and invention disclosures.
  • Manage project schedules, deliverables, and hand‑offs across the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering (MS preferred).
  • 10+ years (BS) or 7+ years (MS) in high‑speed SI/PI or related fields.
  • Expertise in high‑speed channel design, SERDES, S‑parameters, and serial protocols (e.g., PCIe).
  • Skilled with ADS, HFSS, CST, and relevant SI/PI simulation tools.
  • Hands‑on experience with oscilloscopes, VNAs, TDRs, spectrum analyzers, and protocol testers.
  • Strong understanding of PCB materials, stackups, and high‑speed construction.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and project management abilities.

Desired Skills

  • Experience in photonics, optical signaling, or semiconductor capital equipment.
  • Familiarity with instrument control software and experimental automation.
  • Japanese language ability.
