Maintenance Manager
Position Overview
DSJ Global is working with a Pulp and Forest Product Manufacturing company to identify a Maintenance Manager in the general Hattiesburg, Mississippi area.
This is a highly visible leadership role within a large-scale manufacturing facility, responsible for overseeing all maintenance operations and driving improvements in equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and overall plant performance. This individual will lead both salaried and hourly maintenance team members and play a critical role in developing systems, processes, and a high-performance maintenance culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all maintenance operations across the facility, including mechanical, electrical, and reliability functions
- Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to reduce downtime and improve asset performance
- Drive initiatives focused on equipment reliability, breakdown elimination, and maintenance system improvements
- Manage and develop a team of maintenance professionals, including training, performance management, and skill development
- Utilize data, KPIs, and asset history to identify performance gaps and prioritize improvement initiatives
- Lead efforts to modernize maintenance systems and implement best practices in reliability and asset management
- Partner cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and leadership to support production goals and continuous improvement initiatives
- Manage the maintenance budget, including cost control, capital projects, and cost-saving initiatives
- Promote and enforce safety standards and regulatory compliance across all maintenance activities
- Support key business initiatives, including operational excellence, new product development, and procurement savings
- Establish a data-driven culture to drive decision-making and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- 5-10+ years of experience in maintenance leadership within a pulp & paper or forest products manufacturing environment (required)
- Proven experience developing and implementing preventive and predictive maintenance programs
- Strong leadership background with experience managing hourly and salaried maintenance teams
- Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical systems in a heavy industrial environment
- Experience with CMMS systems and maintenance performance tracking
- Ability to drive change, accountability, and performance improvements across teams
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Preferred Experience
- Background in paper mills, pulp processing, or forest product manufacturing
- Experience with maintenance system modernization or transformation initiatives
- Exposure to lean manufacturing, reliability engineering, or continuous improvement methodologies
