Job Title: Maintenance Shift Lead

Hourly Wage: $33.25 - $39.25

Location: Barnwell, SC

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate effectively with production department employees to understand their issues related to the manufacturing equipment.
  • Effectively assign resources to support all manufacturing departments.
  • Proficiently diagnose complex machine and process issues with the equipment, whether electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic or of a controls nature.
  • Repair the equipment issue(s) in a timely manner with reasonable cost.
  • Properly charge parts to the correct work order and cost center.
  • Analyze the breakdown, using Root Cause Analysis, to understand how to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Communicate to the maintenance planner any unresolved issues to be addressed on PM.
  • Observe the operation of all equipment for issues that might cause breakdown or loss of efficiency.
  • Work with maintenance planner to plan work for preventive maintenance.
  • Resolve complex issues with shift technicians.
  • Attend and participate in pre and post shift turn-over meetings.
  • Ensure all production equipment downtime is accurately documented and logged via shift report.
  • Drive reduction of equipment downtime on their assigned shift.

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum five years of experience in manufacturing maintenance.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and repair of pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical drive systems, and electrical controls.
  • Must have, or possess desire and ability to learn rapidly, extensive controls experience including PLC, Servo Drives, VFD's, and process controllers

Education and specialized skills profile:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two-year degree in mechanical or electrical technology preferred.
  • Basic Computer skills to be able to use programs for work order and parts management.

Environment and Behavioral profile:

  • Must be able to complete tasks with little or no supervision.
  • Must be able to work in environments that include elevated temperatures and dusty conditions.
  • Must have excellent leadership skills to manage maintenance technicians on shift to support manufacturing.
  • Must use leadership skills to set priorities for the shift team to minimize manufacturing downtime while working with production shift leads.
  • Must use leadership skills to work together with production shift leads to analyze manufacturing issues and to execute plans effectively to resolve agreed upon issues.
  • Must use leadership skills to provide technical support to production to help evaluate process issues.

Mobility and Physical Requirement profile:

  • Work location is Barnwell, SC and operates in a manufacturing environment.
  • Be expected to stand for a full shift. Employee will be required to perform climbing stairs, walking, squatting, kneeling, or driving lift truck duties at variable frequency.
  • There is occasional lifting that may require handling of components which can weigh up to 50 lbs.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and walk and talk or hear; use hands and finger, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must occasionally climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, ambient air, temperature extremes, combustible dust fumes or airborne particles, traffic, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
  • The schedule is a rotating schedule, 12 hours per shift, 14 shifts in 28 days, days, nights, and weekends.
