National Sales Manager
DSJ Global is currently partnered with an exciting CPG organization experiencing a great deal of growth looking to bring on a National Sales Manager.
The National Sales Manager will lead the execution of sales strategies for national accounts, focusing on major grocery and big box retailers across the U.S. This role is responsible for driving sales growth by cultivating strong relationships with customers, vendors, and broker partners. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record in sales leadership, a deep understanding of the retail landscape, and the ability to deliver results through strategic planning and execution.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required
- 5-10+ years of sales experience with national grocery and/or big box retailers
- Demonstrated success in achieving or exceeding sales KPIs and targets
- Experience across multiple product categories, particularly in Meats, Prepared Meals, and/or Fresh Foods; background in launching and selling consumer packaged goods is preferred
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales trends and market dynamics
- Solid understanding of retailer margin structures and pricing strategies
- Creative and strategic thinker with strong decision-making capabilities
- Proven ability to set sales goals, develop sales plans, and refine strategies for both new and existing products
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging with broker partners, internal leadership, and retail customers
- Exceptional presentation skills, with the ability to align company objectives with retailer goals
- Results-driven with a proactive approach to managing product launches and accelerating program success
- Strategic, consultative, and highly organized with strong project management skills
- Self-motivated and adaptable in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Skilled in problem-solving and developing actionable solutions in a dynamic retail setting
- Strong relationship-building skills and a customer-first mindset
- Willingness to travel 25-50%, depending on location, for client meetings and trade shows
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver annual sales plans for national grocery and big box retailers, aligned with brand and customer strategies. Key accounts include Kroger, Albertsons, Publix, Walmart, and Target. Existing relationships with one or more of these retailers are highly desirable
- Contribute to the development of P&L, trade promotion strategies, merchandising plans, and shopper marketing initiatives
- Build and maintain consultative relationships with key decision-makers across customer organizations
- Partner with stakeholders to develop and execute detailed action plans that drive sales growth
- Strengthen and expand the presence of our client's brands, facilitating new SKU introductions and product placements
- Develop a network of influential contacts within customer organizations
- Understand and leverage retailer priorities and tools to achieve mutual business objectives
- Customize sales strategies to align with customer goals, securing optimal merchandising, display, and promotional support
- Manage broker relationships, set KPIs, and lead quarterly performance reviews
- Translate strategic objectives into actionable, localized plans across accounts
- Demonstrate strong forecasting and demand planning capabilities
- Utilize syndicated data sources (e.g., SPINS, IRI, Nielsen) to inform presentations, identify opportunities, and uncover competitive insights
