Operations Superintendent
The Operations Superintendent oversees daily production activities within a chemical manufacturing facility, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations. This role is responsible for managing production teams, optimizing processes, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to meet quality, safety, and output targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate plant operations, including production scheduling, resource allocation, and equipment utilization.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
- Lead and mentor production supervisors and frontline staff to maintain high performance and engagement.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions to improve productivity and reduce downtime.
- Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and quality teams to resolve operational issues and support process improvements.
- Drive lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and process changes as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 5-10+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing operations, with supervisory or leadership experience.
- Strong understanding of chemical processing, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience with process optimization tools and methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) is a plus.
