Paint Supervisor required for Leading Ship Repair Company

  • $38 - $42/hour

A leading ship repair company is seeking a Marine Paint Supervisor to oversee blasting, painting, and coating operations on a variety of commercial vessels.

The Paint Supervisor will have the following responsibilities:

  • Assign tasks, ensure deadlines are met, resolve conflicts, and motivate staff
  • Lead safety culture, conduct safety meetings, and hold employees accountable for safety practices.
  • Work with project managers to plan staffing, scheduling, tools, materials, equipment, and subcontracts
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and proper work practices.
  • Develop daily work assignments, ensure employees have necessary tools and procedures, conduct toolbox meetings, and inspect work for adherence to plans and specifications.
  • Review timecards, ensure timely submission of work hours, assist with estimating for bids, and attend production meetings.
  • Foster cooperative relationships, share knowledge, and provide constructive suggestions.
  • Comply with HR policies, communicate goals, and complete employee evaluations.

The ideal Paint Supervisor candidate will have the following skillset:

  • Expertise in marine equipment, ship repair, construction techniques, sequencing activities, safety practices, and complex mathematical principles.
  • Proficient in coatings, surface preparation, and hazardous materials management.
  • Previous journey experience as a Painter/Blaster.
  • Willing to learn and apply industry practices in hazardous waste management and regulations.
  • NACE (C-7 or C-14) or SSPC preferred; willingness to achieve certifications.
  • Ability to advance the paint trade through teaching, industry roles, or special projects.
  • Knowledgeable in paint RSI class materials.
  • Effective leadership, communication, and team-building abilities.
  • Capable of presenting information and responding to questions from managers and employees.
  • Skilled in directing, coordinating, coaching, and motivating others; resolving conflicts.
  • Proficient with computers, word processing, spreadsheets, and interpreting technical instructions
