Commodity Manager
Compensation: $100,000-$130,000 Base + Bonus
Our client, a manufacturer operating in a highly regulated environment, is seeking a Commodity Manager to lead strategic sourcing initiatives, supplier performance management, and procurement team development.
This position will play a critical role in building sourcing strategies, strengthening supplier relationships, driving cost savings, and ensuring supply continuity across key commodities. The Commodity Manager will also lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals while partnering closely with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute commodity strategies that support business objectives.
- Lead supplier selection, qualification, performance management, and development activities.
- Conduct supplier business reviews, audits, and corrective action initiatives.
- Manage supplier negotiations, contracts, and cost-reduction programs.
- Drive value engineering, supplier consolidation, and process improvement initiatives.
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including capacity constraints, long lead-time items, and supplier disruptions.
- Partner with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Program Management to support production and new product introductions.
- Ensure compliance with quality, regulatory, and ethical sourcing requirements.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of buyers, sourcing specialists, and/or procurement professionals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of purchasing, sourcing, or commodity management experience within an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated people leadership experience managing procurement or sourcing teams.
- Proven success developing and executing commodity strategies.
- Strong supplier relationship management and negotiation skills.
- Experience leading supplier performance improvement initiatives.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and quality teams.
Highly Preferred
- Experience working within an AS9100-certified manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of NADCAP requirements and regulated manufacturing supply chains.
- Aerospace, defense, precision manufacturing, or other highly regulated industry experience.
- APICS (CPIM/CSCP) or ISM certification.
- Experience supporting multi-site manufacturing operations.
