About the Role

Our client is a global manufacturer serving a diverse range of industrial markets through innovative materials, specialty products, and technical solutions. They are seeking a strategic and commercially focused Product Manager to support a key product portfolio within their Resins & Adhesives business. This position can be based on-site in Tennessee or the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area.

This role is responsible for defining product strategy and ensuring operational execution across a portfolio of specialty chemical products. The Product Manager will serve as the primary business owner for assigned product lines, balancing commercial growth objectives with operational realities to maximize profitability and long-term value creation. Working cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Technology, and Leadership teams, this individual will influence decisions related to pricing, portfolio optimization, new product launches, supply planning, customer requirements, and market development.

The successful candidate will utilize market intelligence, competitive analysis, and financial data to drive strategic decision-making while supporting day-to-day portfolio management activities. Responsibilities include developing pricing strategies, evaluating market opportunities, managing product lifecycles, supporting commercialization efforts, and ensuring alignment between customer needs and business objectives.

Job Requirements

  • Develop and execute pricing strategies to maximize profitability and support business objectives.
  • Analyze margin performance and identify opportunities for financial improvement across products, customers, applications, and market segments.
  • Monitor market conditions, supply and demand trends, competitive activity, and industry developments to support strategic decision-making.
  • Develop pricing forecasts and support Integrated Business Planning (IBP) processes.
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing teams to implement pricing initiatives and achieve commercial goals.
  • Manage customer contracts, incentive programs, and related commercial agreements.
  • Lead strategic and operational management of assigned product portfolios.
  • Oversee all phases of the product lifecycle, including introduction, growth, optimization, rationalization, and discontinuation.
  • Evaluate portfolio performance using market data, financial analysis, and customer insights.
  • Conduct regular competitive intelligence activities to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Analyze competitor capabilities, cost structures, market positioning, and product portfolios.
  • Develop recommendations that support revenue growth, profitability improvement, and market expansion.
  • Support allocation and supply management decisions during periods of constrained supply.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Technology, and Commercial teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Participate in asset utilization planning and inventory optimization initiatives.
  • Lead commercialization efforts for new products, applications, markets, and geographic expansions.
  • Manage product sampling and qualification activities throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with product quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Support S&OP activities and help align operational capabilities with commercial priorities.
  • Communicate customer needs and market requirements to manufacturing and operational teams.
  • Assist in determining contract volume commitments and product allocation strategies.
  • Provide technical and commercial support to customer-facing teams as needed.
  • Participate in stage-gate development projects and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Utilize business analytics and reporting tools to evaluate portfolio performance.
  • Present recommendations, performance updates, and strategic initiatives to internal stakeholders and leadership teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives designed to improve efficiency and profitability.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Product Management, Supply Chain, Procurement, Sales, Marketing, Commercial Operations, or a related field.
  • Chemical industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting specialty chemicals, polymers, resins, adhesives, coatings, or related industrial products is highly desirable.
  • Proven success managing product portfolios and driving commercial performance.
  • Strong understanding of pricing strategy, margin analysis, and profitability optimization.
  • Experience supporting supply chain planning, inventory management, and operational initiatives.
  • Knowledge of product lifecycle management and commercialization processes.
  • Strong business and financial acumen.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic business plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence decision-making across multiple functions.
