Quality Engineer - Chemicals Manufacturing
A leading chemicals manufacturing company in the greater Louisville, KY area is seeking a Quality Engineer. The Quality Engineer ensures the quality of daily production and supports product quality initiatives across the facility. This role oversees laboratory functions, develops and trains lab personnel, and provides technical expertise through data analysis and problem-solving. The Quality Engineer also plays an essential role in continuous improvement efforts and compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead and organize daily laboratory operations, including supervising lab personnel.
- Conduct data analysis, review lab controls, and perform Gage R&Rs.
- Ensure testing meets internal and external standards and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee equipment calibration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and documentation.
- Support ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 systems compliance.
- Administer quality system processes such as grade change requests, return goods reviews, and inter-laboratory cross-checks.
- Ensure accurate finished product grading for all materials.
- Lead or support investigations into quality issues and non-conformances, driving timely resolution.
- Track non-prime production and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with maintenance and contractors to support lab operations.
- Apply change management processes within the lab.
- Drive improvements in product technology, process control, analytical testing, and overall quality systems.
- Participate in and support plantwide strategic improvement projects.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years in Quality Assurance and/or Chemical Manufacturing.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience required.
- Strong leadership and decision‑making skills.
- Excellent planning, organization, and project management abilities.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to independently manage multiple projects.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively.
