Quality Manager
A leading specialty manufacturing organization is seeking a Quality Manager to lead quality systems, process improvement initiatives, and product compliance efforts at a high-volume manufacturing facility. This role will be responsible for driving quality excellence, reducing process variability, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring products consistently meet customer and regulatory requirements.
The Quality Manager will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams to improve manufacturing performance, strengthen quality systems, and foster a culture of operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Leadership & Management Systems
- Lead and manage the site's Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with internal standards, customer requirements, and regulatory expectations.
- Develop, maintain, and improve quality procedures, specifications, work instructions, and supporting documentation.
- Oversee quality metrics and reporting, identifying trends and driving corrective actions to improve overall performance.
- Manage customer complaints, non-conformances, and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) programs.
- Lead internal quality audits and support external customer and regulatory audits.
- Ensure testing equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and capable of delivering accurate and reliable results.
- Maintain product certification records, quality documentation, and material approval processes.
Continuous Improvement & Process Excellence
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing defects, waste, downtime, and process variation.
- Utilize root cause analysis, statistical tools, and data-driven methodologies to resolve quality and manufacturing issues.
- Partner with operations and engineering teams to improve process capability, product consistency, and manufacturing performance.
- Establish and maintain process controls and performance standards to ensure sustainable results.
- Support capital projects and operational improvement initiatives that enhance quality, efficiency, and reliability.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies throughout the operation.
Product Quality & Technical Support
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and commercial teams to improve existing products and support new product introductions.
- Evaluate product performance data and customer feedback to identify opportunities for quality improvements.
- Provide technical guidance and support for production teams regarding quality standards, testing methods, and process controls.
- Lead product qualification activities, validation efforts, and technical investigations.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications and quality requirements.
Team Development & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Train, mentor, and support employees on quality systems, product standards, and problem-solving methodologies.
- Develop SOPs, training materials, and quality documentation to sustain performance improvements.
- Present quality performance updates, audit findings, and improvement recommendations to site leadership.
- Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams to achieve plant objectives.
- Foster a culture centered on safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Quality Management, or a related technical discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in quality, manufacturing, process engineering, or operational excellence within an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS), quality auditing, CAPA, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience leading quality initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with data analysis and quality performance metrics.
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and other quality improvement tools preferred.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
