Sales Engineer - Mechanical background preferred
About the Role
Responsible for achieving profitable bookings and sales goals through a customer-centric approach, in alignment with company procedures and objectives. This role plays a key part in the sales department, representing a diverse portfolio of machinery solutions to both prospects and existing customers. The position requires close collaboration with internal teams including sales, engineering, customer service, and management to ensure customer needs are met and market intelligence is effectively communicated.
Schedule
Core hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, onsite. Flexible scheduling is available.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare sales quotations in collaboration with technical and sales teams to close deals and maximize profitability.
- Maintain and update pricing and cost sheets with a focus on company financial goals.
- Coordinate with engineering to integrate new product developments into the quoting process.
- Support Regional Sales Managers with market pricing strategies.
- Analyze customer needs and contracts to identify future sales opportunities.
- Conduct risk assessments for potential sales.
- Utilize CRM tools (Salesforce) and ERP systems (Epicor) to manage sales activities and data.
- Provide after-sales support in coordination with Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure customer satisfaction and timely product delivery.
- Keep the sales team informed about the latest productivity and communication tools.
- Attend technical conferences to present solutions and stay current with industry trends.
- Occasionally travel to support Regional Sales Managers in customer presentations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in capital equipment application engineering and/or sales.
- Degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred) or a business background with strong technical aptitude.
- Demonstrated ability to instill urgency and drive results within a sales team.
- Strong time, cost, and task management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and maintain attention to detail.
- Commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with ERP (Epicor), CRM (Salesforce), and AutoCAD is preferred.
