Senior Design Quality Manager
My client who's a reputable smart home appliances technology group (own brands) is looking for a Senior Design Quality Manager to join their team, working closely with internal R&D and design teams, based in China.
Key Responsibilities
- Global Design Quality Leadership
Lead and manage the Design Quality Engineering (DQE) function across all product development centers, ensuring consistent quality standards, alignment, and best‑practice deployment. - End‑to‑End Test Strategy Ownership
Oversee the development of comprehensive, stage‑appropriate test strategies and test cases that validate product performance, safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance using accurate, relevant, and trustworthy data across both existing and new product categories. - Voice of the Customer Integration
Partner closely with Consumer Insights teams to systematically embed the voice of the customer into product requirements and ensure effective translation into clear, measurable technical specifications. - Advancement of Quality Methodologies
Continuously enhance Quality content within the integrated product development process, introducing modern quality tools, techniques, and thinking to guide design teams toward robust product solutions. - Design Quality Governance
Ensure Design Quality processes are applied intelligently and rigorously throughout development to deliver robust, desirable, and manufacturable products that meet customer and business expectations. - Supplier Collaboration and Selection
Work in close cooperation with Supply Chain to identify, evaluate, and onboard suitable suppliers for new product initiatives. - Supplier Capability Development
Build and strengthen supplier capabilities in new product development, design for quality, and industrialization to support long‑term partnership success. - Technical and Commercial Decision Support
Act as the authoritative voice of quality in key technical and commercial reviews, influencing decisions through data, risk assessment, and sound engineering judgment. - Seamless Transition to Mass Production
Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Quality teams to ensure smooth, efficient transitions from design to mass production, achieving key performance metrics such as yield, U3PH, and early production stability.
Job Qualifications
Technical Expertise
- Extensive experience as a senior Design Quality professional in consumer products.
- Strong background in heated and motorized consumer products, such as vacuum cleaners, cooking appliances, or similar electromechanical systems as well as IoT smart tech connected devices.
Manufacturing Knowledge
- Deep understanding of mass‑manufacturing processes, including injection molding, metal stamping, surface treatments/coatings, and finished goods assembly.
- Ability to assess process capabilities, limitations, and risks during product design and industrialization.
Leadership & Organizational Skills
- Proven ability to lead cross‑functional, geographically distributed DQE teams from early concept through stable production.
- Clear strategic vision, strong organizational discipline, and the ability to drive alignment across engineering, quality, supply chain, and manufacturing.
Data‑Driven Decision Making
- Highly proficient in applying quality tools and methodologies to analyze performance, identify risk, prioritize actions, and solve complex problems.
- Comfortable compiling, interpreting, and communicating quality metrics to senior stakeholders.

- Calm, decisive, and resilient leader with the maturity to navigate ambiguity and complexity.
