Strategic Account Manager - Retail (Major Multiples & Discounters, UK)

A leading international consumer platform is seeking a senior Strategic Account Manager to drive growth across key Retail partnerships within the UK, with a focus on major multiples and discounter channels. This is a highly visible role with full ownership of top-tier accounts, responsible for accelerating revenue, strengthening strategic partnerships, and executing best-in-class commercial plans.

Key responsibilities

  • Own and develop relationships with major UK retailers (e.g. grocery multiples and discounters), acting as the primary commercial lead and senior point of contact
  • Deliver annual revenue targets across a high-value account portfolio (multi-million £ NSV), driving sustained double-digit growth through joint business planning (JBP)
  • Negotiate and execute commercial agreements including trading terms, promotional plans, and margin optimisation initiatives
  • Identify and unlock new growth opportunities (range expansion, NPD listings, omnichannel activation, last-mile integration) to increase share of wallet
  • Lead cross-functional alignment internally (commercial, marketing, operations, supply chain) to ensure seamless execution and service excellence
  • Analyse performance data (sell-in/sell-out, category trends, ROI on promotions) to inform strategic decisions and strengthen customer propositions
  • Build long-term partnerships with senior stakeholders within retail accounts, influencing at buyer, category director, and commercial leadership levels

Candidate profile

  • Proven experience managing major UK grocery retail accounts (Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, Morrisons, Aldi, Lidl, etc.) within FMCG, retail, or eCommerce-led environments
  • Strong commercial track record delivering significant revenue growth, margin improvement, and successful JBPs at scale
  • Experience operating at a senior level with full P&L or revenue accountability across ключ accounts (£5M-£50M+)
  • Highly analytical with the ability to translate data into clear, actionable commercial strategies
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills with exposure to complex, multi-stakeholder environments
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias for action in fast-paced, high-growth business models
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally in a matrix organisation with both local and international stakeholders
