Strategic Sourcing Specialist
Summary:
A leading manufacturer in the building materials industry is seeking a results-driven and detail-oriented Strategic Sourcing Specialist to join its team in Lawrence, KS. This role is ideal for a sourcing professional with strong project management skills, a strategic mindset, and a passion for optimizing supply chains. You'll collaborate cross-functionally to develop and execute sourcing strategies that align with business goals and drive value across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for key categories and commodities.
- Identify, evaluate, and establish strategic partnerships with suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and master purchase agreements.
- Lead sourcing projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, and Marketing.
- Support product development and value engineering initiatives.
- Analyze total cost of ownership and implement cost-saving strategies.
- Partner with Supplier Development and Quality teams to ensure supplier performance.
- Drive digitization efforts within the supply chain.
- Lead complex make-versus-buy analyses and VA/VE projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or related field with demonstrated technical aptitude).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in sourcing, category management, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and sourcing processes.
- Knowledge of materials such as steel, aluminum, glass, chemicals, and roll-formed components is a plus.
- Professional certification (or willingness to pursue within 3 years).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a matrixed, team-oriented environment.
