Head of Procurement
We are supporting an IPP in their search for a Head of Procurement to oversee strategic sourcing and procurement activities for BESS and Solar equipment across their project portfolio. This role is critical to ensuring timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery of critical components. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in procurement, supplier management, and contract negotiation within the renewable energy or utility sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute procurement strategies for equipment and services across solar and BESS projects.
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, and construction teams to align procurement timelines with project schedules.
- Manage end-to-end procurement life cycle including RFIs, RFPs, bid evaluations, contract execution, and supplier performance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with OEMs, EPCs, and service providers in the renewable energy space.
- Monitor market trends, pricing, and supply chain risks to inform sourcing decisions.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Support cost estimation and budgeting efforts during project development and pre-construction phases.
- Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes, tools, and supplier performance metrics.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, with at least 3 years focused in the energy or utility sector.
- Proven track record of sourcing and negotiating contracts for critical equipment in utility-scale solar or BESS projects.
- Strong technical understanding of HV systems including substations, transformers, and grid interconnection requirements.
- Experience working with EPCs, OEMs, and utilities.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and procurement tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Coupa).
- Knowledge of industry standards such as IEEE, IEC, and NESC is a plus.
