Quality Manager
Job Overview
A precision manufacturing organization serving aerospace, defense, commercial, and medical markets is seeking a hands‑on Engineering & Quality Manager to lead both functions at its Connecticut-based facility. This role is responsible for driving continuous improvement, elevating manufacturing processes, and ensuring full compliance with industry regulatory and quality standards. The ideal candidate brings a blend of technical engineering expertise, strong quality system leadership, and proven audit experience within highly regulated environments.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead engineering and quality teams, ensuring adherence to applicable standards and regulatory requirements, including AS9100, ISO, ITAR, and Nadcap.
- Manage and coordinate internal and external audits, including customer, third‑party, and regulatory audits.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase operational efficiency, reduce scrap, and improve throughput.
- Support new product introduction (NPI), process validation, and the development of robust manufacturing processes.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action processes (CAPA, RCCA) to resolve quality and production issues.
- Partner collaboratively with Operations, Program Management, and Supply Chain to ensure project timelines and technical requirements are met.
- Develop, mentor, and grow engineering and quality staff to build organizational capability.
- Track, analyze, and report engineering and quality performance metrics to leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
- 4+ years of engineering and/or quality experience in aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
- Strong audit experience (AS9100, ISO, Nadcap, or comparable standards).
- Knowledge of relevant quality standards (AS9100, ISO 9001) and regulatory requirements (ITAR).
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
- Ability to balance technical engineering responsibilities with quality management oversight.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
