Safety Coordinator - 2nd Shift

A leading Food Manufacturer is looking for a Safety Specialist to support plant safety programs, conduct audits and training, drive incident investigations, and partner with operations to reduce risk and strengthen safety culture. The responsibilities of the Safety Coordinator, 2nd shift will include:

  • Maintain regulatory compliance across all site safety and environmental programs, ensuring written safety plans are updated annually or as needed. Key programs include Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, PPE, Emergency Response, Bloodborne Pathogens, Confined Space, and Hazard Assessments.
  • Serve as Safety Committee Facilitator by driving agenda planning, maintaining participation records, documenting minutes, and leading periodic compliance audits with corrective action follow‑through.
  • Execute all safety and environmental inspections, documentation, and reporting with accuracy and on-time performance to meet regulatory and internal standards.
  • Lead, coordinate, and deliver comprehensive safety and health training, including weekly toolbox talks, new-hire onboarding, and annual compliance training for all personnel.
  • Conduct thorough incident investigations and root cause analyses, driving corrective and preventive actions to reduce future risk.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date safety documentation, including training records, environmental reports, and any required federal or state compliance records.
  • Ensure strong cross-functional communication between Safety, HR, and site leadership to support consistent safety culture alignment.
  • Partner with operations to identify and mitigate risk through ergonomic assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and hazard reduction recommendations.
  • Perform routine Safety and Distribution Center audits to verify compliance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Follow up on all safety-related work orders with Maintenance to ensure timely closure and hazard remediation.
  • Maintain up-to-date labor law postings and other required workplace postings.
  • Support drug screening processes in alignment with company policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee compliance-driven inspections of fire protection equipment, emergency response vehicle components, AEDs, hoists, ladders, eyewash stations, and respirator storage. Collaborate with Maintenance on plant-wide inspection activities.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Industrial Lift Truck operation to support safety oversight in material handling areas.

The ideal Safety Coordinator, 2nd shift will have the following skillset:

  • 1-3 years of hands‑on experience in Safety, EHS, or occupational health roles.
  • Proven ability to perform effectively under pressure in fast‑paced, high‑demand operational environments.
  • Manufacturing or industrial facility experience strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of OSHA General Industry standards and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
  • Familiarity with RMP (Risk Management Program) and PSM (Process Safety Management) is advantageous.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a diverse workforce and cross‑functional teams.
  • Capable of moderate physical activity, including handling average‑weight materials and prolonged standing or walking during peak operational hours.
  • Comfortable working in cold and wet environments, typically ranging from 28-35°F, as part of routine plant engagement.
