Director, EHS
The Director of EHS is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all environmental, health, and safety programs across the manufacturing facilities. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while fostering a culture of safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will bring strategic leadership, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to risk management in a fast-paced, highly regulated industry. This role is with a company in the food & beverage manufacturing industry based out of the Atlanta, GA area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the company's EHS strategy aligned with business goals and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the subject matter expert and advisor to executive leadership on EHS matters.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, FDA, USDA, and other applicable regulations.
- Lead audits, inspections, and reporting for environmental and safety compliance.
- Design and implement EHS policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Identify potential hazards and implement preventive measures.
- Manage emergency response planning and crisis management protocols.
- Drive initiatives to reduce environmental impact, including waste reduction, energy efficiency, and water conservation.
- Monitor and report on sustainability metrics and goals.
- Lead and mentor a team of EHS professionals across multiple sites.
- Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in EHS, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Previous food & beverage manufacturing industry experience
- In-depth knowledge of EHS regulations and standards (OSHA, EPA, FDA, etc.).
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to drive cross-functional collaboration.
- Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM are highly desirable.
