Procurement Specialist
Job Overview
The Procurement & Materials Specialist oversees purchasing and warehouse operations for a building materials company in the local area across 2 plants.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with affiliated or parent organizations to leverage existing supplier agreements and identify competitive sourcing opportunities
Lead competitive bidding processes for goods and services, negotiating agreements that balance cost, quality, service, and availability
Ensure all procurement and contract activities are conducted in compliance with ethical and legal standards
Drive modernization and efficiency across procurement and inventory systems by introducing innovative solutions and best practices
Oversee warehouse operations, including inventory flow, cycle counts, and cost management of parts and consumables
Conduct min/max inventory analysis and provide recommendations
Establish, track, and improve key performance indicators related to procurement and inventory management
Support the annual budgeting process, with a strong understanding of maintenance costs, material requirements, and long-term capital planning
Partner closely with Finance to deliver accurate monthly accruals and cost forecasts
Provide support to plant operations as needed
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a technical, business, financial, or related field
- Minimum of four years of experience in purchasing and contract management within a manufacturing, production, or construction environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
- Proven negotiation skills and strong organizational abilities
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as CPM, APP, CPP, or APICS
- Experience with Oracle Cloud
