A defense technology manufacturer is looking to hire a Senior Sourcing Operations Manager - Contract Manufacturing based out of San Mateo, CA. Please see details below:
Work Model: 3 days on-site per week (Tues, Wed, Thurs)
Position Summary
Lead contract manufacturing sourcing strategy, supplier negotiations, and cost management for hardware products, accessories, and related systems. Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, Operations, and Finance to optimize supplier performance, product costs, and supply chain strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management
- Develop manufacturing and sourcing strategies in partnership with Product and Engineering teams.
- Conduct market analysis, supplier identification, RFIs/RFQs, and supplier selections.
- Negotiate contracts, SOWs, pricing, and commercial terms with contract manufacturers and suppliers.
- Manage NRE, tooling, equipment, testing, and BOM cost negotiations.
- Drive forecast alignment, materials planning, and procurement operations with manufacturing partners.
Cost Management
- Own product cost targets throughout the product lifecycle.
- Develop should-cost models and identify cost reduction opportunities.
- Partner with Supply Chain, Operations, and Finance to improve financial performance and reporting.
- Build and execute cost optimization initiatives.
Supply Chain Strategy & Operations
- Map and assess supply chain networks.
- Identify supply continuity risks and mitigation strategies.
- Support supplier segmentation and operational improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in supply chain, sourcing, manufacturing, or procurement.
- Strong contract manufacturing and supplier negotiation experience.
- Expertise in cost modeling, should-cost analysis, and cost reduction.
- Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
- Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Technical degree preferred.
- Interest in advanced technology, robotics, aerospace, or consumer electronics.
