Location: Chattanooga, TN
Compensation: $125,000-$155,000 base salary
Summary
A leading heavy manufacturing company in Chattanooga is seeking a Senior Materials Manager to oversee materials planning, procurement, inventory control, warehousing, and supplier management. This role ensures material availability for production, drives cost savings, enhances supplier performance, and leads a high-performing materials and procurement team. Experience with Oracle Fusion ERP and a strong background in strategic sourcing and inventory optimization are essential.
Responsibilities
- Lead materials management functions including planning, inventory, warehousing, and procurement.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels and implement controls to minimize shortages, excess, and obsolescence.
- Oversee purchasing activities including supplier selection, negotiation, contracting, and performance management.
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies that reduce cost and improve supply continuity.
- Manage warehouse operations including receiving, storage, picking, staging, and material flow to production.
- Utilize Oracle Fusion to manage materials, procurement, and inventory processes; drive system optimization.
- Partner with production, supply chain, quality, finance, and engineering on materials-related initiatives.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts focused on efficiency, cost reduction, and supplier reliability.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team spanning procurement, planning, and warehouse operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
- 7-10+ years of experience in materials management within heavy manufacturing, industrial, or automotive environments.
- Demonstrated experience in procurement, inventory control, warehousing, and supplier management.
- Strong working knowledge of Oracle Fusion or comparable ERP platforms.
- Proven leadership and team management experience.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
