Quality Specialist - Chemical Manufacturing

Location: New Orleans, LA

A leading chemical manufacturer is seeking a Quality Specialist to join their team at one of their most advanced and automated facilities in Louisiana. This role plays a critical part in the plant's Operational Excellence team, ensuring top-tier product quality, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction in a fast-paced, 24/7 production environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Laboratory & Analytical Oversight (30%)

  • Oversee quality control testing and train operators and lab technicians on analytical procedures.
  • Ensure accurate data entry in LIMS for Certificates of Analysis (COAs).
  • Maintain calibration schedules and preventive maintenance for lab equipment.
  • Review and approve quality documentation, including test methods and work instructions.
  • Manage chemical approval processes and raw material changes through MOC procedures.
  • Troubleshoot LIMS, SAP QM issues, and maintain lab supply inventory.

Quality Management Systems (70%)

  • Lead the disposition process for non-performing stock and update systems accordingly.
  • Report monthly KPIs such as Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), Non-Performing Stock (NPS), and Right First Time (RFT).
  • Collaborate with global quality teams to maintain microbial standards and site compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support ISO 9001 certification efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing quality role, preferably in chemicals or related industries.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, LIMS, SAP QM, and quality assurance methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment.
