Position Overview
Our client is seeking a highly motivated Senior Site Operations Manager to lead manufacturing operations within a dynamic chemical processing environment. This individual will be responsible for driving safety, operational excellence, productivity, quality, and employee engagement while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements. The Senior Operations Manager will play a critical role in developing site strategy, optimizing manufacturing performance, and fostering a strong safety-first culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for daily manufacturing operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable production.
- Champion a strong safety culture with a focus on OSHA compliance, Process Safety Management (PSM), risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.
- Lead and develop production teams, including supervisors, engineers, and hourly personnel.
- Manage site KPIs related to safety, quality, productivity, cost, and customer service.
- Drive operational excellence initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, EHS, Quality, and other cross-functional stakeholders to achieve business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Support and lead key PSM elements including:
- Management of Change (MOC)
- Process Hazard Analyses (PHA)
- Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR)
- Incident Investigations
- Mechanical Integrity programs
- Develop and manage departmental budgets while identifying opportunities to improve profitability and operational performance.
- Lead workforce planning, succession planning, employee development, and talent retention initiatives.
- Participate in capital project planning and execution to support site growth and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering (required).
- 8+ years of progressive operations leadership experience within the chemical manufacturing industry.
- Demonstrated experience operating in a Process Safety Management (PSM) regulated environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA PSM requirements and chemical manufacturing best practices.
- Proven leadership experience managing production teams in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence programs.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing KPIs, budgeting, and operational performance metrics.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and team-building skills.
Preferred
- Experience managing operations within specialty chemicals, industrial chemicals, petrochemicals, coatings, polymers, or related process manufacturing environments.
- Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent continuous improvement training.
- Experience overseeing capital projects and plant expansions.
- MBA or advanced technical degree is a plus.
