Sr Automation Project Engineer
The Senior Automation Capital Projects Engineer plays a key role in defining and executing automation standards across multiple manufacturing sites. This role partners with cross‑functional teams, including internal stakeholders and external vendors, to deliver capital projects and operational support. Responsibilities include leading the implementation of process control systems, manufacturing data collection, and reporting solutions, as well as planning and executing projects on time, within scope, and on budget to improve operational performance.
Responsibilities Include:
- Architect, plan, and deliver IT/OT solutions including industrial networks, controls, and automation platforms.
- Drive implementation of approved IT/OT standards for network design, PLCs, field devices, and supporting IT systems.
- Own capital project execution support end‑to‑end (requirements, scope, vendor coordination, proposals, and delivery on time/budget).
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the automation/controls team.
- Partner with Project Managers to define, justify, and manage automation/electrical scope and change impacts across projects.
- Build and sustain reliable automation solutions and site standards, including control programs, drawings, documentation, and automation software/tooling.
Requirements Include:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Chemical, or related discipline).
- 7+ years of hands‑on automation experience, ideally within consumer packaged goods or similar manufacturing environments.
- Deep expertise in PLC design and programming (Allen‑Bradley preferred), HMI/SCADA platforms (FactoryTalk View ME/SE, Ignition), industrial networks, and process historians.
- Strong electrical controls background, with experience across automation hardware, field devices, and control system architectures; robotics experience is a plus.
- Proficient in industrial integration and documentation, including OPC interfaces, electrical schematics, P&IDs, and process flow diagrams using AutoCAD and Visio.
- Proven team player and technical leader with the ability to mentor others, manage multiple priorities, drive change, and travel as business needs require.
