Area Manufacturing Electrical Engineer
The Area Manufacturing Manager serves as a senior technical leader, providing advanced manufacturing expertise and driving the implementation of best-in-class technologies and practices across eight production facilities. This role acts as a strategic liaison between mill operations and corporate engineering, facilitating the exchange of innovations, continuous improvement initiatives, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver expert technical support to manufacturing operations across all sites.
- Apply standard engineering principles and practices, making informed adaptations to meet operational needs.
- Lead and support cross-functional projects, including installation, commissioning, and construction management.
- Provide hands-on project management for capital initiatives and technology upgrades.
- Develop and deliver technical training programs for plant personnel on new systems and technologies.
- Contribute to the development of business and plant-level capital plans.
- Prepare engineering documentation including plans, specifications, and technical reports.
- Offer actionable recommendations grounded in sound engineering judgment.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including consulting engineers, utility providers, and regulatory authorities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support business objectives.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution.
- 10+ years of experience in controls engineering, manufacturing engineering, or field technical support.
- Experience in paper mills or box plants is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with converting machine controls and PLC installation projects.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 80%; must reside within the continental U.S. with access to reliable air transportation.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
- Excellent organizational and planning capabilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
- Solid understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70E, and electrical safety standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with AC/DC drives, servo systems, and motor troubleshooting (ABB, Rockwell, Siemens).
- Expertise in process control systems including Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix, MicroLogix, PLC5, and Siemens PLCs.
- Proficiency in PLC hardware and software design.
- Experience with operator interface systems such as FactoryTalk View and PanelView.
- Proven project management skills, especially in new installations and rebuilds involving PLC and drive systems.
- Strong technical communication and documentation skills.
