The Role
We are seeking a Project Engineering Manager (m/f/d) to join the Process Engineering and Development team in Hamburg. This position offers the opportunity to lead critical investment projects and contribute to the company's strategic vision for operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and deliver investment projects aligned with both strategic and short-term business goals.
- Translate project scope into clear User Requirement Specifications (URS) and ensure stakeholder alignment.
- Guarantee compliance with safety, environmental, and engineering standards across all projects.
- Collaborate with external partners, including contract manufacturers, research institutions, engineering firms, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.
- Develop and maintain standardized engineering design and operational protocols.
- Mentor and develop the project engineering team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
- Support global initiatives, best practice programs, and commercial projects requiring engineering expertise.
Additional Responsibilities
- Oversee project planning, implementation, and progress tracking.
- Promote sustainable technologies across business functions.
- Implement Good Engineering Practices and standards such as EHEDG.
- Manage contractors and consultants in line with procurement guidelines.
- Work with financial managers to justify investments according to corporate protocols.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and security standards.
- Drive operational excellence and champion methodologies such as 5S.
Your Profile
- Master's degree or PhD in engineering or a related discipline.
- Several years of experience leading technical projects, ideally in biotechnology, food, beverage, or process industries.
- Strong background in CAPEX project management and proven leadership skills with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across all organizational levels.
- Analytical, structured, and entrepreneurial approach to problem-solving.
- Experience managing international projects with cost-awareness and strategic focus.
- High commitment to quality and customer orientation.
- Ability to simplify complex processes and make them actionable.
- Fluency in German and English (written and spoken).
- Willingness to travel regionally and internationally.
