Role: Formulation Chemist
Location: Bay Area -- Albany, CA (Hybrid)
Salary: $80,000-110,000
A pioneering company in eco-friendly home care products is looking to add a Formulation Chemist to its expanding R&D team based in the Bay Area, CA. This is a full-time hybrid position, with relocation support.
The Formulation Chemist will be responsible for:
- Develop new formula prototypes, conduct lab testing, and participate in pilot plant trials under the direction of the Director of R&D.
- Coordinate off-site and third-party testing to validate product performance.
- Maintain detailed records of experiments, stability testing, and analytical results.
- Analyze and interpret test data to provide actionable insights for product enhancement.
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure consistency and reliability.
- Perform routine quality checks on raw materials and finished products.
- Oversee lab equipment maintenance and calibration.
- Maintain laboratory safety protocols in compliance with local regulations.
- Manage inventory of lab supplies and raw materials.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to drive innovation and stay ahead of industry trends.
The Formulation Chemist should have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of formulation and product development experience in personal care, beauty, or home care products (preferred).
- Familiarity with Design of Experiments (DOE), mixtures experiments, and statistical approaches.
- Ability to conduct experiments, collect and organize data, and prepare reports.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis tools (e.g., JMP for ANOVA, DOE, Process Control) preferred.
- Python or basic coding experience is a plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to meet physical requirements of the role.
