A leading shipbuilding organization is seeking an experienced Maritime Field Engineer to act as a key liaison between engineering and production teams in a dynamic shipyard environment. This role plays a critical part in delivering new‑build vessels by supporting construction activities, coordinating system routing, and ensuring accurate as‑built documentation. Ideal candidates will bring strong technical expertise, hands‑on shipyard experience, and a results‑driven approach to delivering projects on time and on budget.
Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with production supervisors, craft leads, and subcontractors to support vessel construction.
  • Provide real‑time technical guidance during construction and installation of vessel systems.
  • Assist with material planning, sourcing, and purchasing decisions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve construction sequencing and schedules.
  • Plan, verify, and support routing for piping, electrical, mechanical, and structural systems.
  • Provide on‑site technical support during installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable regulatory and classification standards.
  • Review drawings and installations for accuracy and compliance.
  • Resolve discrepancies between design and field conditions promptly.
  • Recommend process improvements to reduce rework and increase efficiency.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience supporting shipyard new‑build projects.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a craft or supervisory/management role (including subcontractor oversight).
  • Demonstrated history of delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD; familiarity with ShipConstructor or similar shipbuilding software.
  • Strong working knowledge of vessel systems including piping, electrical, and structural components.
  • Ability to interpret and apply marine regulatory and classification rules.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced production environment.

This is a highly visible role offering the opportunity to contribute directly to complex vessel construction programs, collaborate across disciplines, and play a hands‑on role in bringing new vessels to life.
