Product Manager, Bacon Category
A food manufacturing organization is seeking a Product Manager to lead strategy, profitability, and operational execution for a key product category. This role is best suited for a commercially driven, analytical leader with direct experience in the bacon category. You'll shape category direction, optimize pricing and margins, and partner across teams to support sustained growth.
Responsibilities for the Product Manager, Bacon Category:
  • Drive category strategy and financial performance, including pricing, assortment planning, and margin improvement efforts.
  • Manage inventory and demand needs for the category, including seasonal planning, distressed inventory actions, and oversight of fresh vs. frozen product coordination.
  • Guide production strategies that maximize raw material utilization across multiple product types.
  • Build and maintain financial and break‑even models with Operations and Finance to inform commercial decisions.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for the sales team, providing insights on specifications, inventory levels, cost, and timelines.
  • Lead pricing reviews, support trade negotiations, and contribute to annual RFP processes and assortment expansion.
  • Strengthen workflows with FP&A, Operations, Quality, and other cross‑functional groups to ensure seamless category execution.
  • Participate in product reviews, monitor yield variances, and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Address supply‑demand imbalances quickly and guide the organization through category‑specific challenges.
  • Act as the category expert, offering strategic input and market‑based direction.
Requirements for the Product Manager, Bacon Category:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Food Science, or related discipline; MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of product, category, or brand management experience within protein, bacon expertise strongly required.
  • Proven ability to manage P&L elements and interpret syndicated data sources.
  • Experience within food manufacturing or CPG preferred, particularly protein or processed meats.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and cross‑functional leadership skills.
  • ERP experience (SAP preferred).
