Quality Engineer - Aerospace Manufacturing and Compliance

A leading aerospace manufacturer specializing in custom battery systems and control electronics for military and commercial aircraft is seeking a Quality Engineer to join its high-performance team. This is a critical role for a detail-oriented, compliance-driven professional who thrives in regulated environments and is passionate about continuous improvement and root cause resolution.
What You'll Do:
- Lead structured root cause investigations using 8D, Fishbone, and 5 Whys methodologies.
- Develop and maintain QMS documentation aligned with AS9100 and FAA requirements.
- Analyze and report on quality metrics to drive performance and compliance.
- Conduct internal audits and support external audit readiness and execution.
- Investigate quality issues across suppliers, WIP, and finished goods to ensure delivery and compliance.
- Serve as the primary liaison for audit activity across the facility.
- Track and resolve nonconformances through corrective action planning and material disposition.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to document best practices and standardize procedures.
- Interface with suppliers on quality issues, audits, and corrective actions.
- Support training, continuous improvement initiatives, and quality system education.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- 5-10 years of quality assurance experience, including 2+ years in aerospace or regulated industries.
- Deep knowledge of AS9100, FAA quality requirements, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong technical reading skills (drawings, specs, contracts).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems (Epicor preferred).
- FAA designee experience (DMIR) or eligibility preferred.
- Familiarity with export compliance regulations is a plus.
- ASQ certifications (CQE, CQA) are a plus.
Work Environment & Requirements:
- Office and manufacturing floor settings with variable noise levels.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and communicate effectively across all levels.
- U.S. Person status required due to ITAR/export compliance.
