Senior Controls Engineer
What You'll Do
- Install, troubleshoot, and optimize control systems including PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, motors, and high‑speed automation equipment.
- Develop and improve imaging programs for assembly and processing equipment.
- Create, review, and collaborate on wiring diagrams, ladder logic, and control architecture for new builds, retrofits, and upgrades.
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing.
- Diagnose issues using strong analytical and hands‑on troubleshooting skills to drive root‑cause solutions.
- Independently manage tasks in a fast‑growing, dynamic engineering environment.
- Conduct feasibility studies, analyze data, and support productivity improvements.
- Develop medium‑to‑large control system programs from scratch.
- Act as a technical leader contributing to team planning and project execution.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 10+ years ofhands‑on experience in assembly/manufacturing environments, including:
- Clean‑sheet design
- Controls implementation for discrete component assembly
- Automation and high‑speed equipment
Preferred Experience
- Extensive experience designing and developing high‑volume, high‑speed, high‑precision automated equipment.
- Strong background with:
- Rockwell Automation platforms (highly preferred)
- B&R controls (a plus)
- RSLogix5000 / Studio 5000
- FTView ME/SE
- Servo and VFD systems (PowerFlex, Kinetix preferred)
- Experience with machine vision or imaging systems (strong plus).
- Strong understanding of servo motion control and robotics.
- Automation experience including component feeding and material handling.
- Solid project management, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast‑paced engineering environment.
- Excellent communication and technical writing abilities.
- Experience with SQL Server or Visual Basic Programming is a plus.
- Strong commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
Additional Details
- Approx. 10% domestic and international travel anticipated.
