DSJ Global has partnered with a major privately held industrial organization to identify a Senior Manufacturing Engineer for a key site in Portland, Oregon. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker with a strong background in manufacturing operations, continuous improvement, and cross-functional leadership. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping long-term production efficiency and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct high-level evaluations of production systems to uncover opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiency.
  • Lead lean transformation efforts, coaching teams and setting performance benchmarks to reduce waste and streamline workflows.
  • Collaborate with plant leadership to resolve complex production challenges and implement sustainable improvements.
  • Drive modernization efforts by coordinating with engineering and maintenance teams on equipment upgrades and process enhancements.
  • Develop and enforce robust operating procedures that align with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Monitor compliance across production activities and lead initiatives to strengthen workplace safety and regulatory alignment.
  • Analyze operational data to identify trends, inform decision-making, and present strategic insights to senior leadership.
  • Partner with external vendors to assess and integrate new technologies that enhance manufacturing capabilities.
  • Stay current on industry best practices and lead initiatives that promote a culture of innovation and accountability.
  • Oversee major improvement projects and support new product launches, including training staff on new systems and tools.

Core Qualifications

  • Hands-on engineering experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or military setting.
  • Demonstrated success leading process improvement or reliability initiatives.
  • Experience mentoring or training team members.
  • Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo).
  • Familiarity with fiber-based or process-intensive manufacturing environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Prior experience managing direct reports or leading cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of data visualization and analytics platforms (e.g., PI Vision, PARCview).
