Sr. Manager, Logistics & Warehouse Operations
The Sr. Manager of Logistics & Warehouse Operations is responsible for leading the overall performance and strategic direction of warehouse and logistics operations. The Senior Manager will oversee all aspects of material flow, including inbound receiving, storage, internal replenishment, and outbound distribution, with a strong focus on safety, service levels, and operational efficiency.
Working closely with cross-functional partners, this individual will drive alignment between warehouse operations and broader business objectives, while enhancing processes related to labor utilization, inventory control, and continuous improvement. A key component of the role is building and sustaining a high-performing, results-driven team.
Primary Responsibilities
Operational Strategy & Execution
- Design and implement comprehensive strategies to improve warehouse performance across inbound, storage, replenishment, and outbound activities
- Ensure operational plans are aligned with overall business priorities and growth initiatives
- Define, track, and improve key metrics such as service levels, throughput, and inventory accuracy
- Lead continuous improvement efforts aimed at reducing cycle times, increasing visibility, and improving material availability
- Utilize systems, automation tools, and analytics to enhance efficiency; collaborate with IT to maximize WMS functionality
- Ensure adherence to supplier compliance requirements, including packaging, labeling, and routing guidelines
- Establish and maintain standards related to safety, compliance, and operational best practices
- Oversee facility operations, including equipment planning and preventative maintenance programs
Budgeting & Cost Optimization
- Own the financial performance of warehouse operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and expense control
- Identify and execute opportunities to reduce costs through improved productivity, process efficiencies, and vendor/3PL management
- Monitor financial results and implement corrective actions to address variances
- Balance cost reduction initiatives with service, safety, and quality objectives
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead workforce planning and staffing strategies across both hourly and salaried employees
- Develop and coach team members to drive engagement, accountability, and performance
- Foster a culture centered on continuous improvement, collaboration, and operational excellence
- Oversee hiring, onboarding, training, and succession planning efforts
- Establish clear performance expectations and provide ongoing feedback, recognition, and corrective action when needed
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and high-performing work environment
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure all operations adhere to company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Support ongoing compliance initiatives and internal controls
- Perform additional duties as needed to support business objectives
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
- 10+ years of experience managing warehouse operations in a manufacturing or distribution setting
- 7+ years of leadership experience supervising both hourly and salaried personnel
Key Skills & Capabilities
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations, including material handling, inventory strategies, slotting, and replenishment methodologies
- Experience applying Lean principles and continuous improvement tools (e.g., 5S, visual management, process flow optimization)
- Demonstrated ability to improve operational processes and inventory accuracy
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and drive decisions
- Effective communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders across multiple levels of the organization
- Proven leadership abilities with a focus on team development and performance management
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
- Strong organization and project management capabilities
Technical Proficiency
- Experience working with ERP platforms and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification in logistics or supply chain (e.g., CLTD)
- Experience with Oracle ERP systems
- Hands-on experience with Oracle WMS
- Familiarity with advanced data and reporting tools such as Power BI or Power Query
