Associate Controls Engineer
Location: Barnwell, SC
Annual Salary: $75,098 - $104,011
Schedule: Full-time, Day Shift (Monday-Friday), with on-call responsibilities as needed
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with team members to address manufacturing equipment and process flow issues.
- Collaborate with management and electrical teams to plan preventive maintenance activities.
- Troubleshoot complex equipment issues, including servo drives and Siemens/Allen Bradley PLCs.
- Interpret and update electrical schematics using EPLAN or CAD.
- Maintain Octoplant backups for all process control systems.
- Configure and monitor data trends to support operations and maintenance.
- Design and implement control systems to enhance productivity and quality.
- Provide after-hours support for complex electrical issues.
- Diagnose and resolve issues involving electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control systems.
- Understand and manage critical machine settings and OEM specifications.
- Perform timely and cost-effective repairs.
- Accurately charge parts to appropriate work orders and cost centers.
- Follow all safety procedures and permit requirements.
- Conduct root cause analysis of breakdowns and implement preventive measures.
- Report unresolved issues and delays to the Engineering Controls Manager.
- Monitor equipment for inefficiencies or potential failures.
Professional Experience
- Minimum 5 years in manufacturing maintenance.
- At least 5 years with Allen Bradley ControlLogix 5000 PLCs (preferred).
- Minimum 3 years with SEW drives and process controls.
Education & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an accredited institution.
- Basic computer proficiency for work order and parts management systems.
Work Environment
- Must work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Exposure to loud environments (87+ dB) and extreme temperatures (up to 110°F).
- Work may involve confined spaces and outdoor conditions.
- Ability to multitask and communicate clearly in high-pressure situations.
Language Requirements
- English proficiency (spoken and written) is essential for job performance.
Physical & Mobility Requirements
- Must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs, kneel, squat, and operate lift trucks.
- Occasional lifting of components up to 50 lbs.
- Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
- Frequent use of HMIs, radios, and walking throughout an 8-hour shift.
- Travel required for training purposes.
