Director of Strategic Procurement
Our client, a leading organization in the food production sector, is seeking a Director, Strategic Procurement to lead sourcing initiatives across North America. This role focuses on optimizing procurement operations across key categories such as raw materials, packaging, indirect spend, and capital expenditures. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in food ingredient sourcing and a proven ability to drive cost efficiencies, supplier performance, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute category strategies that align with organizational goals and deliver measurable value.
- Lead a team of 2-5 procurement professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing and supplier negotiations.
- Monitor market trends and supply chain risks to inform procurement decisions and mitigate disruptions.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support change management and ensure alignment on procurement initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to enhance service levels, quality, and reliability.
- Report on procurement performance, KPIs, and strategic progress to senior leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Food Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive procurement experience, ideally within the food manufacturing or CPG industry.
- Demonstrated success in managing procurement teams and delivering cost savings.
- Strong knowledge of sourcing strategies, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
- Experience working in matrixed environments and managing cross-functional projects.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills.
