Title: E&I Project Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer (E&I) with a strong foundation in industrial electronics, electrical and instrumentation systems, and hands‑on experience with Modicon PLCs. The ideal candidate brings prior project execution experience in a chemical or process manufacturing environment, where safety, reliability, and technical accuracy are essential. This role will lead capital and maintenance projects, collaborate across functional teams, and ensure high‑quality technical deliverables are delivered on schedule and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Execution
- Lead and support engineering projects within a chemical manufacturing facility.
- Manage project documentation, schedules, budgets, and change orders.
- Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and contractors throughout project lifecycles.
Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineering
- Design, implement, and maintain electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Review and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, loop diagrams, and panel layouts.
- Conduct field inspections, equipment assessments, and commissioning activities.
Control Systems & Automation
- Troubleshoot, optimize, and maintain Modicon PLC‑based control systems.
- Ensure all control logic and instrumentation support operational reliability and safety.
Compliance, Safety & Regulatory Support
- Ensure adherence to chemical industry regulations, safety protocols, and environmental standards.
- Support process safety initiatives including PHA and MOC (Management of Change).
Maintenance & Reliability
- Develop proactive maintenance strategies (preventive, predictive, failure finding) for instrumentation systems.
- Perform root cause analysis on instrumentation failures and track corrective actions.
- Provide high‑level troubleshooting support for instrumentation issues in a 24/7 operating environment.
- Participate in outage planning and execution.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 3-7 years of experience in project engineering within a chemical or process manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with industrial control systems and Modicon PLCs.
- Strong technical foundation in industrial electronics, instrumentation, and control logic.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross‑functional environments.
Preferred
- Experience with SCADA/HMI systems in batch or continuous processing.
- Background managing capital projects ranging from $50K to $2M.
- Knowledge of chemical process safety, PHAs, and MOC systems.
- Strong technical documentation skills under regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with SAP, AutoCAD, and industry standards such as NEC, ISA, and NFPA.
- Understanding of hazardous area classification, grounding, and protective systems.
