Job Overview
An established manufacturing facility in Alsip, IL is seeking a skilled Electrical and Instrumentation Maintenance Technician to join its team. The ideal candidate is a motivated industrial maintenance professional who thrives in a heavy industrial setting and is committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Experience in paper mill operations is preferred. This is a non-smoking facility.

Primary Responsibilities
- Prioritize safety and maintain a clean work environment
- Apply multi-craft skills to complete assigned work orders
- Work flexible shifts, including a Dupont 12-hour rotating schedule
- Actively contribute to team goals in safety, quality, cost, and production
- Support maintenance operations during scheduled shutdowns and urgent repairs
- Interpret and work from technical documentation including schematics, manuals, and specifications
- Install, maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair:
- Electrical power systems (AC voltages: 480V, 2400V, 13,800V)
- Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Process instrumentation controls (valves, transmitters for level, temperature, flow, pH, conductivity, consistency)
- Electrical infrastructure (conduit, wire pulling, cable trays, panels, junction boxes, instrument tubing)
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) for low and medium voltage equipment
- Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), including programming and troubleshooting
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of journeyman electrician experience in a heavy industrial environment
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training in electronics preferred
- Experience with high-voltage systems (up to 13.8kV), MCCs, VFDs, PLCs, and DCS (Siemens & Allen Bradley)
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and industrial safety practices (arc flash, LO/TO, fall protection, hot work, hazard analysis)
- Ability to perform light mechanical work to support multi-craft maintenance
- Strong knowledge of preventative, proactive, and predictive maintenance
Working Conditions
- Non-climate-controlled environment with temperature extremes (30°F - 110°F)
- Frequent exposure to wet/humid conditions, loud noise, and airborne particles
- Occasional work at heights and exposure to vibration

This facility plays a vital role in the local economy and sustainability efforts by recycling over 250,000 tons of corrugated materials annually. Located approximately one hour from downtown Chicago, the site operates in a union environment and is part of a larger network of advanced manufacturing locations across the U.S.
