Position Summary

The Environmental Engineer will support environmental compliance and environmental management programs within a chemical manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, with a primary focus on Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requirements. The position works closely with Operations, EHS, Engineering, and Corporate Environmental teams to maintain permits, manage reporting, and support continuous improvement initiatives related to environmental performance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable EPA and TCEQ environmental regulations, permits, and reporting requirements.
  • Support environmental permitting activities including air, water, wastewater, stormwater, and hazardous waste permits.
  • Prepare, review, and submit environmental reports such as emissions inventories, discharge monitoring reports (DMRs), waste reports, and compliance certifications.
  • Assist with regulatory inspections, audits, and agency interactions; support responses to notices of violation (NOVs) or regulatory inquiries.
  • Collect, analyze, and maintain environmental data to support compliance tracking and internal reporting.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of environmental management systems and standard operating procedures.
  • Partner with operations and engineering teams to identify environmental risks, implement corrective actions, and support process changes.
  • Support waste minimization, pollution prevention, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Participate in incident investigations related to environmental events (spills, releases, exceedances) and assist with corrective and preventative actions.
  • Stay informed on changes to environmental regulations impacting chemical manufacturing operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3-5 years of professional environmental experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably chemical manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of EPA regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Direct experience working with Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) regulations, permitting, and reporting.
  • Experience supporting environmental programs related to air emissions, wastewater, stormwater, and hazardous waste.
  • Familiarity with regulatory reporting, inspections, and documentation requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for regulatory and internal stakeholders.
