Equipment Reliability Specialist I

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an Equipment Reliability Specialist I to help ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant and processing equipment. This individual will provide hands-on maintenance leadership, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, and support preventive, corrective, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role also includes supporting technician development and contributing to improved equipment performance and overall plant reliability.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead preventive maintenance (PM) and technical support activities as directed by department leadership.
  • Participate in or lead continuous improvement efforts focused on improving equipment reliability, performance, and production efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance production equipment and assist in developing metrics to track improvements.
  • Support maintenance personnel with preventive and corrective maintenance activities as needed.
  • Assess maintenance team capabilities to identify training needs and support employee skill development, both technical and interpersonal.
  • Evaluate the impact of maintenance activities on plant performance, including uptime, throughput, waste reduction, and product quality (OEE).
  • Communicate daily maintenance activity and work order status with production leaders and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting support and leverage available resources to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Partner with production leadership to identify and prioritize critical maintenance tasks.
  • Interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and work orders to perform maintenance and service tasks accurately.
  • Utilize the electronic asset management (EAM) system to document and track repairs and maintenance history.
  • Collaborate with department leadership to address priorities, concerns, and overall maintenance performance.
  • Support the development and execution of preventive maintenance programs, including identifying critical spare parts and inventory needs.
  • Audit maintenance inspections and completed checklists to proactively identify issues and ensure effective tool utilization.
  • Assist with training related to existing, new, or updated equipment and maintenance processes.
  • Monitor daily maintenance activities to ensure plant assets are used effectively and responsibly.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety requirements.
  • Contribute to a collaborative work environment and perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

This role is designated as safety-sensitive, as impaired performance could pose a risk to the individual or others.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on industrial maintenance experience.
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills with the ability to positively influence others.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and analytical communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and support mechanical and electrical systems in a manufacturing environment.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively in face-to-face settings.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, bend, twist, kneel, climb, push/pull, and reach on an occasional to frequent basis.
  • Ability to read, write, perform basic calculations, and analyze information.
  • Work may occur in environments with varying temperatures.
  • Requires good visual acuity, depth perception, and color vision.
