Fabrication Supervisor required for leading industrial machinery manufacturer

The Fabrication Supervisor will have the following responsibilities:

  • Lead the team by clearly explaining expectations, assigning and tracking daily work, giving feedback on performance, coaching and supporting employees, addressing issues when needed, and providing ongoing training.
  • Carry out all supervisory duties in line with company policies, the collective bargaining agreement, and applicable employment laws.
  • Apply disciplinary actions appropriately under the collective bargaining agreement and company guidelines, including recommending termination when necessary.
  • Respond promptly to work‑related issues or emergencies whenever they arise, regardless of the time of day.
  • Support staffing needs by onboarding, orienting, and training employees.
  • Keep workflow running smoothly by reallocating tasks, implementing corrective actions, coordinating employee transfers, and promoting collaboration across departments.
  • Ensure production schedules are met by assigning work, setting priorities, monitoring progress, recommending schedule adjustments, resolving obstacles, and reporting results.
  • Review and approve employee attendance and other work records using the company's automated time and attendance system.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly work environment by reinforcing proper use of PPE, tools, and equipment, and ensuring everyone follows safety and company procedures.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with the union by adhering to the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Uphold quality standards by ensuring employees follow organizational requirements and procedures.
  • Keep equipment running by submitting repair requests, evaluating opportunities for new equipment or improved techniques, and ordering tools or equipment when needed.
  • Provide accurate production information by compiling performance data and responding to questions or requests from other teams.
  • Stay up‑to‑date professionally by participating in workshops, seminars, professional groups, and reviewing industry publications.
  • Support overall team success by contributing to related tasks and results as needed.

The ideal Health Safety Environment and Security Manager candidate will have the following skillset:

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, a Science/Engineering discipline, or equivalent hands‑on manufacturing/production experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience; experience managing in a union environment is a plus.
  • Background in sheet‑metal fabrication, including COâ‚‚ and fiber laser equipment; experience with plastics, cast components, electromechanical assembly, or refrigeration systems is beneficial.
  • Proven involvement in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous‑improvement initiatives.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
